Cody’s research explores how the Levitical ritual system (as understood in the New Testament epistle to the Hebrews) provides a unique way of understanding Christ’s presence in the Eucharist. By approaching Communion with the context of Christ’s ongoing activity, he suggests that there is precedence for reading this sacrament in light of its eschatological significance—as a typification of the coming marriage supper of the Lamb. 

Of particular historical significance, Cody draws from the works of St Thomas Aquinas and John Calvin and argues for a metaphysical account that takes seriously the major concerns of both these thinkers. By drawing from these sources, he hopes to inspire further dialogue between Protestants and Roman Catholics.
